As a professional Real Estate Consultant and licensed broker in the state of Texas, Mel brings over 11 years of successful commercial brokerage, residential brokerage and investment expertise to the industry. Mel provides land and building acquisition, joint venture expertise for investors, and assistance to the home buyer so they can take a piece of the American Dream!
Mel’s designations and leadership involvement include but are not limited to: ABR, AHWD, EcoBroker Certified®, e-Pro, GREEN, GRI, SFR, TAHS, TRLP. Mel has served in a variety of leadership positions at the Greater Fort Worth Association of Realtors (GFWAR) since his membership in 2001; past President Elect in 2009 and Treasurer/Secretary of the Board of Directors for 2008 and on the Executive Committee. Mel has also served on the Governmental Affairs Committee, chair of TREPAC, the Task Force for the Texas Association of REALTORS® Housing Opportunity Fund for the Rebuild Rita Project and graduate of the GFWAR 2006 Leadership class. In addition, Mel has served on the Board of Governors for the Society of Commercial REALTORS® and serves as the 2008 Liaison for Texas Association of Realtors Housing Initiatives Committee and a member of the Technology Committee.
He is currently serving as the 2010 President of the Greater Fort Worth Association of Realtors. Mel also serves as the Chairman for the Texas Association of Realtors Housing Initiatives Committee and is a member of the International Forum and Professional Standards Committee. On the National level Mel serves on the Professional Standards Committee and Housing Opportunities Committee.
One of Mel’s key focuses is educating his customers and clients regarding Energy-Efficient property options such as innovative energy, environmental influences, and green strategies and providing tools like energy-efficient mortgages (EEM) and www.TXHomePrograms.org. Mel’s Philosophies: Ethics and Integrity comes first while his client’s best interests are foremost important. Mel says to treat all real estate purchases as an investment and work from a budget, not what you might be able to afford on paper.
Outside of the association Mel is an active member of the Tarrant Coalition of Environmental Awareness (TCEA) and United States Green Building Council (USGBC). When not submerged in Real Estate, Mel enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter and their many companion animals. Playing music and enjoying exercise and outdoor activities such as scuba diving are some of Mel’s active interests.
